JAMES
R. WEBB
EDUCATION:

SPECIALTY SKILLS:
Mr. Webb has more than twenty eight years of business experience in sales,
marketing and senior management. He began his career in sales with the Dial
Corporation as a retail salesman in Atlanta, Georgia. After several sales
management positions of increasing responsibility, at the age of 29-Mr. Webb was
appointed a Regional Vice President and became the youngest corporate officer in
the history of the company. After almost sixteen years with Dial, the last five
as the Vice President of field sales, he accepted a job as Vice President of
Sales with M&M/MARS.
While at M&M/Mars, he was instrumental in developing one of the most
professional sales organizations in the consumer goods industry. During his six
years as Vice President of Sales, he was given increased sales and marketing
responsibility which included management of International operations, creation
of a new food services sales and marketing division, and the previously separate
Mars sugar and snack food businesses. Under his leadership of the sales force,
the company enjoyed record sales growth and profit.
In 1991, Mr. Webb was appointed President of Uncle Ben's, Inc., the food
division of Mars, Incorporated. In this position, he was responsible for all
aspects of the P&L that included domestic retail and foodservice operations, the
International sales of Uncle Ben's products around the world, and all operating
functions within the business.
He led the company by focusing on people, products and innovation. He retired in
September of 1997.
Since retiring, Mr. Webb has turned his attention to teaching and is on the
faculty of Montgomery College and the University of Houston as an adjunct
professor. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Webb serves on the
board of several charities and non-profit organizations in the Houston area.
