OWEN
AND RITA MARSH
Past President of Monaco
International
Responsible for organizing
rallies
Monaco background:
Rita and I have been members of FMCA since 1991, and joined Monaco International
in 1995. At this time we became active in our local chapter, Monaco Wan-na-gos
Where I was elected as alternative nat’l
director in 2002. We have been members of Travelers
And Monaco’s in Motion. In 2001 we were
selected as Wagonmasters to the Monaco International Prerally in Stillwater,
Ok. We gained an enormous amount of education into the workings of a rally and
the importance of being a liaison between Monaco and Monaco International. We
had responsibilities of securing the location, food, entertainment, decorating,
and assembling committees to make this all happen. The only thing we had no
control of was the weather. I worked directly with Monaco staff coordinating
activity and meeting rooms, venders and monies. Since 1995, we have missed only
one prerally. I consider Rita a real asset and her experiences in decorating
the 2000 Maine and Okla. Rally have shown her desire to work and meet others.
She is not afraid to speak or sing when needed. Rita and I have been married 26
years and travel with our miniature schnauzer named “Monaco”
Personal
Background: In the early
70s I worked for Stratoflex where I served as West Coast Sales Manager, working
with notable corporations as United Airlines, Lockheed and Douglas Aircraft,
Freightliner, Peterbilt and others. I returned to Texas and started my own
business as a sales representative for furniture and related lines. I did this
until 1977. In 1976, I married Rita and we purchased a franchise decorating
business Decorating Den. During our five year relationship I served on the Board
of Directors and in 1978 we were selected as Franchise Owners of the year. We
were one of the top10 producers for five years.
In 1983, we left the franchise and
started our own Independent Design firm Decorating Dimensions. In 1991, I
started Marsh Motorhome Rental in Houston. The business grew so quickly, I had
to leave the sales part of Decorating Dimensions to Rita. While I still managed
the Design firm, I was also very involved in the Public relations and
maintaining of our coaches. Along with having a strong corporation rental base,
I was proud of the clients that rented from us such as the NBA, Movie Studios,
Wheel of Fortune, Texaco and NBC Broadcasting.
